10 Songs to Request On Your Deathbed

by Chris
(Palmdale, CA)

Play...

Play..."When The Levee Breaks" for me one last time...

10. Circa Survive - Your Friends Are Gone

A beautiful song with fantastic vocals and amazing instrumentals. The lyrics explain that if you never open up to your friends and show who you really are, you'll be left with no friends. Musically this song will make you feel feelings

9. Nirvana - Lake of Fire (Live)

This one is from their Unplugged album and is a cover of a song by the Meat Puppets.

Their rendition of it out-performs the original in every way possible. Kurt Cobain's vocals bring this song to life and show another side to Nirvana.

8. Bob Dylan - The Hurricane

Bob Dylan uses his trademark vocals and incredible lyrics based on a true story to suck the listener in for 8 and a half minutes without boring them for even a second. The violins are a great fit and never repeat once throughout the song.

7. Incubus - Just a Phase

This song slowly builds itself up more and more until it explodes.

Along the way you get some great scratch work, beautiful singing, and the always-solid guitar work of Mike Einziger. This song will catch your attention as soon as it starts.

6. Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks

One of Led Zeppelin's most passionate songs.

Between the extremely bluesy harmonica and guitars and the simple but powerful drums, there is so much life in this song that you can't help but feel at least a little bit of sorrow and pain.

5. Muse - Bliss

Origin of Symmetry was Muse's best album (in my opinion), and the shining example of why the album was so great is the song 'Bliss'. In short: everything in this song is beautiful.

4. Atreyu - Untitled Finale

Atreyu is always good for providing some great heartfelt lyrics, and this song is no exception.

The song ends the album with incredible fashion by slowly removing pieces until you have nothing but drums and distorted vocals.

3. The Used - On My Own

I have an extremely strong sentimental attachment to this song, but one of the main reasons I latched onto this song is because it is so raw, yet so beautiful.

The lyrics are great and relatable, while the music is unbelievably somber.

This is the perfect song to listen to when you are going through struggles, but it also helps to listen to the song following it on the album (Pieces Mended).

This song will pick you up and drop you on your ass, then the next song will lift you right back up and keep you there.

2. Green Day - American Idiot (The Album)

You can say what you want about Green Day 'selling out' on this album, but when you listen to it all the way through you realize that selling out was the last thing on their minds while constructing this album.

They tell an outstanding story, and the music flows from one song to the next perfectly. One of those rare albums that is made up of 100% good songs.

1. Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight (Part 1)

This is far and away the most amazing song that I have ever heard. The lyrics, the guitars, the drums, the vocals, the piano...all of it is perfect and fits the tone of what Avenged was trying do with this song.

Clocking in at just short of 9 minutes long, you get plenty to listen to. This is the only song I have ever heard that I can describe as 'Perfect' and I promise that (assuming you like it) you will listen to this song over and over again.
