1. Band of the Week: John Mayer

Okay, I actually hated John Mayer for so long. But that was when he wrote all his pop (The Albums "Room For Squares" and "Heavier Things").

But when he came out with "Continuum" I was blown away. It was just this style of blues that I found amazing.

It was as if he combined Pop and Stevie Ray Vaughan style Blues.

I just think it is miraculous.

You can check their Page Here and their song, "Belief" here.

2. Projects: What's in the Works?

I've spent a fair amount of time working on the site layout. If you haven't been there in a while, go and Take A Look.

My time has been thrown into making more and more content for the site as well.

I've been averaging about 3 Articles/Album Reviews/Song Interpretations/Etc. a day. Which is fairly excellent in my opinion.

Then again, Quantity doesn't mean much.

So I assure you, that I put a great amount of effort into making sure you get the best information on the net. I mean, I might as well not write it at all if it is going to be this boring, drab, and lame content.

3. Article: The Top 3 Music Colleges

Best Music College - Top 3

Maybe you don't really care about going to Post-Secondary education for your musical abilities.

Some people think that going to College for music can ruin your creativity, while others put a large emphasis on getting that "base foundation" of knowledge needed to make it in the music world.

The Following list, is by no means the "Biggest" Campuses in the world, but the ones that would be most helpful in the music world.

1. Berklee

Although Berklee has support for many styles of Music, the people who get the most out of the school are Jazz Musicians.

The school was attended by famous musicians like John Mayer, but don't fool yourself. Going to Berklee will not make you famous.

Being a hard-working, talented, and creative musician, as well as knowing how the Music industry works, is what will make you a successful musician.

Basically, Berklee is what you put into it. If you aren't really that great now, and you expect going to college will make you talented, you will be sorely dissapointed (And a whole lot poorer).

But if you go with the expectation that it will amplify your already existing skill, then you would be making a good decision in going.

2. Juilliard

Located in New York, Juilliard School was founded in 1905, and has an approximate 6% acceptance rate.

Although Julliard has a great Academic program, it is often said that the teachers are fairly inaccessible, and getting support is often very difficult.

As well, finding practice space can often be troubling as most students are forced to share practice rooms with others, making "practice time" into "wear noise reduction headphones while practicing your instrument" time.

You can find information about their Academic Programs Here

3. Mannes College: The New School For Music

Mannes College puts a massive focus on classical music. They have been open for the last 93 years...making them...about half as old as Dumbledore...

They offer courses to obtain the following undergraduate degrees:

  • Bachelor of Music
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Undergraduate Diploma

As well as the Following Graduate Degrees:

  • Master of Music
  • Professional Studies Diploma

You can visit their Website Here

These are the 3 top music colleges in the world. It's possible that they may not be entirely suitable for many Alternative Artists when it comes to the creativity, but when it comes to getting that advanced Foundation of knowledge, these are the places you should be going.

And yes, they are going to empty your Wallet.

If you haven't done so already:

(That's A Clue!)
