I want you to imagine Queen doing Death metal. That is what the Album Colors is.
The First song, Foam Born, is really quite amazing. It starts out with the soft reaches of his Freddy Mercury style Piano and voice, and then the song opens up. And "Colors" becomes something else entirely.
The song switches from "Really amazing sounding...and kind of happy" to "Instant Death Metal Rampage".
I simply have not seen this type of variety from any band in the world.
Between The Buried And Me - Foam Born
Oh, did I mention that the album is recorded off of their live DVD? It sounds better than the album version, and through the entire 66 minutes I don't think I found a single mistake on the Bands part.

I can't actually explain the types of genres they went into on this. At one point on "Ants Of The Sky" they broke down and started playing a polka.
Seriously...that is just...stunning.
The Nerve of these guys, I just can't even begin to tell you.
I love it.
Tommy Rogers really well done Vocals are a huge highlight. And the blazing fast guitar is well mixed (So much that you can barely hear it most of the time).
I mean, I think I could have used a bit less Deathmetal in this album. It's split int about 70% Deathmetal, and 30% other awesome magic. I could have gone more for a 50/50 split, or even less.
But other than that, the album really has a lot to give. The mega-epic finisher "White Walls" is a masterpiece, but I think my favorite song on the CD is the melodic "Sun of Nothing". It really just gets catchy (Even the screaming has a certain amount of "Catchiness" to it).
Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.
Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
