What Makes Coldplay A Worthy Pop/Rock Band?

TheRealMusician Recommends:

If you want to take marketing your music to another level, then I can't recommend enough John Oszajca's music marketing manifesto. My favorite aspect of his complete program was his stance on email marketing, where he really leverages the that "1000 true fans" philosophy.

His website is a bit hokey (Flaming guitars? Seriously?), but his program really shows independant artists how to get a leg-up on signed artists.

"Questions Of Science And Progress"

I'm pretty sure Coldplay was voted like, the #1 band in the world or something like that.

Well, maybe they have the most fans, but I wouldn't really agree with that statement at all. Nevertheless, they are a good band and worth listening.

When I was a kid I was forced into taking piano lessons, learning such contemporary masterpieces as "Hot Cross Buns". I hated it, and quit as soon as my parents gave me the chance.

As I grew up a bit, I was inspired by Coldplay's album "A Rush Of Blood To The Head". I got their music book (I must have been 14 or 15 at the time) and learned over half of the album.

So rule #1 about Coldplay: They will inspire you to learn the piano! Plus, chicks dig guys who can play Coldplay.

In any case, if you somehow haven't heard them before, Coldplay is a chill band with high smooth vocals and paint on all their instruments.

You could call it soft rock if you like.

Their best album is easily their first: Parachutes. The thing is a masterpiece, and tops anything else they've written to date.

In their newer stuff (now that they have buttloads of money) they make use of a bunch of less "rocklike" instruments such as the Timpani.

About The Writer

My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.

If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.

Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.

I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
