My Experience:
I hated screaming, or growling. That is, until Cynic.
My Bass Player [Michael Schellenberg] first referred me to Cynic's comeback album, "Traced In Air".
I had never been impressed by a metal album more.
The thing is, I'm a big fan of any sort of Jazz Fusion. Jazz Metal? "Unheard of" I said to myself. But it was true. Cynic was a Jazz Metal band, and I loved every bit of them.
Their first album, "Focus", was revolutionary in the Metal word. It was groundbreaking, and changed a lot of stuff in the music world.
Noticeable Traits:
Jazz Beats Mixed with Metal
Electronicized Vocals
Imogen Heap Style Vocals (The Space for This)
Song Order Works with itself (On their new Album)
Chunky Palm Muted High Notes work as Great Guitar Riffs
