If you like any of the following bands, you will probably like Cynic.
Cynic is one of the early metal bands to introduce jazz into their metal tunes. Way back in the early 90's, they released their first album (Focus). It had critical acclaim, and made a huge impact on the metal world.
After 15 years of not being together, the band got together and wrote a 2nd album titled "Traced In Air" (2008). It was incredible.
Cynic is just one of those Legendary bands that deserves respect from any metal fan. Heck, even non-metal fans could get into it (as long as they can handle some...uh...hard rock).
Now the jazz element is in the groove of the rhythms.
After hearing Cynic's perfect display of mixing low growl
vocals with high (almost auto-tunelike) falcetto vocals, I was blown
away. Growing up I hated growling, but I thought:
"Maybe there's something more to this growling?"
It wouldn't have happened without Cynic.
My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.
If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.
Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.
I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
