Don Caballero Tabs Don Caballero

Don CaballeroMy Genre: Experimental Jazz-Rock What's this?

iTunes Genre: Alternative

Who's in the band?

-Damon Che Fitzgerald on [Vocals] and [Drums].

-Gene Doyle on [Guitar].

-Jason Jouver on [Bass].

My Experience:

I first listened to Don Caballero when it was recommended to me by the service Last.Fm.

I promptly forgot about them, until I heard the name again in a Mars Volta interview, where Cedric Bixler-Zavala mentioned that he really liked them.

The final straw pulled was when my Drummer, Jet Crossley, mentioned that he was a fan as well. So I decided to get a few albums.

I'm not sure if I can even accurately describe Don Caballero in a sense that can be comprehended.

It's like someone took the band "a href="http://www.therealmusician.com/battles-tabs.html>Battles and made them go to Hawaii, and take in all the surf music. Cross that with some wicked drums, and you have Don Caballero (Or "Don Cab" as many fans call them.)

I don't really get how anyone couldn't like this band. Starting with their hilarious song titles, or their Jazzy sound.

Take a listen below.

Noticeable Traits:

  • Considerable use of the Timbales (Type of drum).
  • Vocals are very rare
  • Hilarious song names (Like "Mmmmm Acting, I Love Me Some Good Acting")
  • A very light sound, much like Battles
  • The Drum tone is absolutely incredible, and often mixed higher that the rest of the instruments.

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
