What Makes Flying Lotus The Electronic Giant Of The Millennium?

TheRealMusician Recommends:

If you want to take marketing your music to another level, then I can't recommend enough John Oszajca's music marketing manifesto. My favorite aspect of his complete program was his stance on email marketing, where he really leverages the that "1000 true fans" philosophy.

His website is a bit hokey (Flaming guitars? Seriously?), but his program really shows independant artists how to get a leg-up on signed artists.

About Flying Lotus

Flying Lotus is one of the giants in the electronic scene over the past few years. Although Aphex Twin ruled the 90's (And is still huge today), Flying Lotus seems to have taken the world by storm.

His use of natural sounding samples, combined with syncopated drum beats and seemingly-random progressive song structures, make him pretty awesome to listen to.

If you want some inspiration, or simply want to feel inadequate as a musician; Flying Lotus can provide both of those for you!

I can't even begin to tell you how many Lotus remixes are out there, as a lot of underground electronic artists today attribute at least some of their inspiration to him.

And usually when you have a lot of people remixing you, you know you got something going on.

My favorite album so far is Cosmogramma, although I'll bet if I paid more attention to his earlier works I could squeeze a lot more creativity out of him.

If you've never heard Flying Lotus before, then I recommend you give him a listen, especially if you are already into electronic music of sorts.

If you aren't, remember that a lot of what he does is sample based, so you might not even realize that he's electronic in some instances.

Also, Thom York from Radiohead did a song with him. Doesn't that say something special to you?

About The Writer

My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.

If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.

Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.

I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
