Foster The People @ Brixton Academy 28th April 2012

by Luke Bassil

Best 15 quid i've spent? you betcha! I entered the legendary sold out Brixton Academy, to witness a concert i will never forget. For an american band to come and sell out this 5000 plus capacity venue three nights in a row, you know you are in for a treat. Walking through the halls all i could see around was smiling faces, and the anticipation for this band was electrifying.

9.15pm the lights went off, the music went off, and Foster the People came on stage, with lead singer, Mark Foster coming on last, and the band start the 90 minute set with Houdini, and it goes down a treat, singing and bouncing everywhere!

The opener just set the tone for the rest of the night, which was more of the same, with the band playing the whole album 'Torches' with a few b-sides thrown in too!

'Dont Stop' was my highlight of the evening, the perfect song for summer, despite it hammering down with rain for the last week, and the constant chants of 'wooo wooo woo' from the crowd showed how good it really it is, and as the song ends, with the crowd going beserk, Foster cries to the crowd 'this is why i fucking love London'

The band ended with a elongated version of crowd favorite 'Pumped up kicks' with Foster jumping into the crowd near the end, with confetti coming out of guns covering Brixton in it, perfect end, to a perfect gig, excited for reading festival? hell yeah.

About The Writer

My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.

If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.

Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.

I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
