Hot Fuss Review

If you haven't already heard the album "Hot Fuss ", then you have most likely been held against your will by a banana-wielding male nurse for the last ten years, in which case I understand your predicament.

TheRealMusician Recommends:

If you want to take marketing your music to another level, then I can't recommend enough John Oszajca's music marketing manifesto. My favorite aspect of his complete program was his stance on email marketing, where he really leverages the that "1000 true fans" philosophy.

His website is a bit hokey (Flaming guitars? Seriously?), but his program really shows independant artists how to get a leg-up on signed artists.

The rest of us have most likely heard the triple platinum record already, and I will admit that it is a decent album.

For a band that is so mainstream (I said Triple Platinum, did I not?), there is quite an alternative/indie feel to the sound that gives Hot Fuss it's "Oomphf".

From the western-styled "All these thing's that I've done", to the horns and trumpets in "Believe Me Natalie", there is at least a decent amount of variety to be found within the confines of this musical piece.

The below song (Believe Me Natalie) is definitely my favorite song on the album. There was just something about...the entire feel of the song that I felt was worth mentioning.

The Killers - Believe Me Natalie

Set List

  1. Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
  2. Mr. Brightside
  3. Smile Like You Mean It
  4. Somebody Told Me
  5. All These Things That I've Done
  6. Andy, You're a Star
  7. On Top
  8. Change Your Mind
  9. Believe Me Natalie
  10. Midnight Show
  11. Everything Will Be Alright

Another great track is "Andy You're A Star". There is something about the harmonies (which are precedent throughout the entire album by the way), and the way they blend with the song that is very...laid back?

I'm not really sure how to put it, but I think if you gave it a listen you would get what I am going for!

Overall, Hot Fuss is a pleasant experience. Yeah, I think there is more they could have done with the album, but especially when you put it in comparison with their newer stuff ("Day & Age"...what a disaster...) you will find that Hot Fuss really shines.

About The Writer

My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.

If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.

Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.

I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
