John Mayer Tabs John Mayer

John-mayer

My Genre: Blues What's this?

iTunes Genre: Rock/Pop

Who's in his band?
-John Clayton Mayer on [Lead Guitar] and [Lead Vocals]
-Pino Palladino on
[Electric Bass]
-Steve Jordan on
[Drums and Percussion]

My Experience:

Okay, I actually hated John Mayer for so long. But that was when he wrote all his pop (The Albums "Room For Squares" and "Heavier Things").

But when he came out with "Continuum" I was blown away. It was just this style of blues that I found amazing.

It was as if he combined Pop and Stevie Ray Vaughan style Blues.

I just think it is miraculous.

Noticeable Traits:

  • Bringing back the Stevie Ray Vaughan Stlye Blues
  • Insightful, Yet Easily Understandable, Lyrics
  • Great Guitar Tone
  • Excellent Bass lines, although they are mixed so well you usually can't tell
  • Very Professional and Well Organized Live Performances (No Goofing Around)

My Favorite Songs

John Mayer- Belief

John Mayer- Gravity (forgive the Letterman intro, but it was my favorite live performance of the song.)

John Mayer- Slow Dancing in a Burning Room

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
