The first song I ever listened to by Karnivool was "The Caudal Lure" from the album Sound Awake.
The warm sound of the complicated drum beats was enticing. What was even more attractive though was the simple sound of the band.
It's something that is great to listen to if you feel in a...serious mood. Not as serious as Tool, but definitely with a certain amount of eeriness to it.
It was my Australian Drummer, Jet Crossley, who first showed them to me (Remember they are an Australian band). The heavy metal of "Scarabs" to the emotion driven "Change" makes Karnivool in both of our tops band lists.
Take a listen.
Noticeable Traits:

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.
Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
