Entrenching on rock, folk, post-hardcore even - mewithoutyou is charming with their wit and comforting with their sound.
Aaron Weiss does vocals that range from AlexisOnFire styled screaming to syncopated and loose spoken word. Their songs have groove in an earthy way.
To start, try the album "Brother, Sister". I think it's a great intro to the band, and one of their more accessible releases. The album features some cohesive interlude pieces, with lyrics about a spider and a leaf.
Most important for this band is their lyrical style. Weiss often ties together songs with similar metaphors that morph through an album; he can turn a phrase in an interesting way. The album above starts and ends with the lyrics "I do not exist".
They're not trying to be deep, but it can end up that way.
My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.
If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.
Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.
I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
