Mogwai Tabs Mogwai

A Picture of The Band Mogwai

My Genre: Post-Rock What's this?

iTunes Genre: Alternative

Who's in the band?

  • Stuart Braithwaite on [Guitar] and [Vocals].
  • Dominic Aitchison on [Bass].
  • Martin Bulloch on [Drums].
  • John Cummings on [Guitar].
  • Barry Burns on [Guitar] , [Vocals] and [Keyboard].

My Experience:

My first experience with "Mogwai" was their song Travel is Dangerous. I found that they just have a very melodic and peaceful sound.

I will mention that the vocals are...not as catchy as they are melodic. I think you will find it difficult to sing along with the band if you try, but it is still very pleasing to the ear in this way.

The band is really about being peaceful and melodic. You can listen to songs like "Team Handed" and just fall into a bit of a trance...really!

Mogwai will be much more accessible to a general audience than other bands like The Mars Volta and Mr. Bungle, but they still have their own originality as well.

Noticeable Traits

  • Very Melodic.
  • Often Centered around Long Guitar Parts.
  • Good use of Guitar Tremolo Picking.
  • Melodic, but not catchy, Vocals.

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
