Opeth Opeth

Opeth BandMy Genre: Metal What's this?

iTunes Genre: Death Metal

Who's in the band?

-Mikael Åkerfeldt on [Lead Vocals] and [Guitar].

-Martin Mendez on [Bass].

-Per Wiberg on [Vocals] and [Keyboard].

-Fredrik Åkesson on [Rhythm Guitar] and [Lead Guitar].

-Martin "Axe" Axenrot on [Drums].

My Experience:

I have a friend name Braden Adams. He loves metal with all heart and soul, it consumes him.

So when he tells me that this band is pretty much the best metal band out there, I tend to listen and react.

They aren't just some other metal band. They are one of the greats, up there with Meshuggah and Cynic.

My first experience with them was Blackwater Park, so yeah I will seem a bit of a newbie to all you hardcore Opeth fans.

Nonetheless, if you haven't heard them before, you'd better. Here is a few tracks from Blackwater Park that I love...

Noticeable Traits:

  • Great Growls
  • Good range from super heavy, to extremely pleasing and melodic to the ear.
  • Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree loves them, and has recorded and toured with them.
  • Have been around for quite a while.

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
