Porcupine Tree Tabs Porcupine Tree

Porcupine Tree My Genre: Alternative/Progressive Rock What's this?

iTunes Genre: Progressive Rock

Who's in the band?

-Steven Wilson on [Lead Guitar],and [Vocals].

-Richard Barbieri on [Keyboard].

-Colin Edwin on [Bass],and [Double Bass].

-Gavin Harrison on [Drums],and [Percussion].

My Experience:

First let me say, Porcupine Tree is in my Top 5 Bands of all time.

I was first introduced to them through my Bass Player, Michael Schellenberg.

I'll tell you though, I was skeptical. With a name like "Porcupine Tree" I really didn't know what to expect.

I didn't expect to hear some of the most thoughtful lyrics ever written.

And I certainly didn't expect to hear such an insanely awesome Juxtaposition between amazing progressive guitar riffs, and light harmonic sections.

Porcupine Tree rules. Get used to it.

Noticeable Traits

  • Amazingly Satisfying Guitar Riffs
  • Contrasts between Heavy and Light playing (Hard rock and a Coldplay-type sound)
  • Very Progressive (Listen to the Song "Anesthetize")
  • Excellent use of Vocal Harmonies (Sometimes even sounds like a choir)

My Favorite Songs

Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet (Abridged Version)

Porcupine Tree - The Sounds Of Muzak

Porcupine Tree - Halo (Hilarious Version, Not the Band, but it's too funny not to post.)

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
