Song Meaning: "Know How" by "Kings Of Convenience"

Kings Of Convenience

Kings Of Convenience

Hey Andrew,

Do you think you could please interpret the song "Know How" by "Kings of Convenience"...?

It is quite an interesting song to me.

Thank you..

Andrew Says:

Hey Amy,

From what I gather after looking through the song lyrics, I think it's referring to some sort of secret relationship. Perhaps a night of passion between two lovers?

In the first verse, when he says:

"Is history recorded?
Does someone have a tape?
Surely, I'm no pioneer
Constellations stay the same"

I believe he's basically saying he doesn't have any control over himself, and he has to do whatever he is led to do.

He definitely alludes to having some sort of secret relationship in the 2nd verse:

"Just a little bit of danger
When intriguingly
Our little secret
Trusts that you trust me
'Cause no one will ever know
That this was happening
So tell me why you listen
When nobody's talking"

And the end of the song I believe is just saying that their love is nothing more than just a simple thing, which is making love:

"What is there to know?
All this is what it is
You and me alone
Sheer simplicity"

So it's likely the song could be referring to a one-night stand or something of that sort.

That's my best look at what the song could mean. Hopefully that helps somewhat for you!

-Andrew
