My Experience:
I was first referred to The Mars Volta by my Drummer Jet Crossley.
After listening to "Drunkship Of Lanterns" I knew that I was going to love this band, although I didn't know it then, they would soon become my favorite band.
I listened to De-loused In The Comatorium Countless times on my 72 Hours-Both-Ways trip to Arizona, and by the end of the trip I knew I had to write an album review.
"Just a few hours, and I'll be done" I said to myself.
Boy was I wrong.
What was supposed to be a single-page album review, turned into a 12-page album interpretation, that took over a month to write.
Not only that, but I am also writing an E-book that will be approximately 100-Pages in length.
So much for "A Few hours and I'll be done with this album review".
And that is what you get when you listen to the Mars Volta. You figure you will just try them out, and you slowly realize that Cedric Bixler-Zavala [Lead Singer] and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez [Songwriter and Guitarist] are quite possibly the two most talented musicians in the world.
Noticeable Traits:
Cedric has an Really High Range on His Voice
ALWAYS doing something different
Great Use of Wind Instruments such as Saxophone or Flute

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.
Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
