The Pineapple Thief
I first heard about this band in an issue of "classic rock" magazine while looking at the prog issue with a main article on Rush I was keen to read.
The issue also came with a hand picked selection of modern progressive songs as a tribute to a tradition of music left long behind by mainstream music culture.
The CD was filled with rubbish in my opinion - musicians obsessed with replicating Opeth or Dream Theatre, a unique sound by each band that should only have been played by those bands exclusively.
However one track stood out to me, and I leaned back in my chair to allow the intricate 7/4 phrases penetrate my brain with the same force a sledgehammer does to a small animal. "Tightly Wound" was the start of what I would regale as the best album of 2008, even surpassing the Mars Volta's "Bedlam in Goliath"
I was hooked. Immediately i downloaded the album 'Tightly Unwound" and spent the rest of my evening listening to the album on loop 3 times over.
If your looking for a tripping out, mellow yet powerful indie prog band, The Pineapple Thief will blow your mind out, then cram it back with the sorrow, pain and raw energy pulsating from the cores of the musicians within the band.

Independent Music Promotions offers personalized online promotion and publicity campaigns for serious indie bands and artists.
James Moore (author of the popular music marketing book "Your Band Is A Virus") can help you promote your Album, EP, Music Video, or just your band in general.
I have spoken to James personally many times, and he is a very professional and respectful person to work with.
