My Experience:
I was first introduced to this band by my drummer from our band "The Haunt Of". We recommended them to me, so I picked up the album "Oxeneers or the Lion Sleeps When Its Antelope Go Home"
I really found that they just had this really unique, distorted bass type feel. I think their use of the Micro Korg's and KAOSS Pad really shows in the music.
Songs like "The Shit Sisters" and "Angela's Secret" really stood out for me. Although I've only really gotten into the first album, the rest of it is good as well.
Noticeable Traits
Distortion Bass.
Almost, but not quite, Post-Hardcore Vocals (Half-Screaming Half-Singing).
Usually fairly driving feel to most songs.
Some really cool electronic sounds.
Almost similar to "Rage against The Machine" in a way...

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.
Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
