Tomahawk Tomahawk

My Genre: Experimental Hard Rock/ Indian Rock What's this?

iTunes Genre: Screw iTunes

Who's in the band?

-Mike Patton on [Vocals], [Keyboard].
-Duane Denison on [Guitar], [Bass Guitar].
-John Stanier on [Drums].

My Experience:

Tomahawk was the first Mike Patton band that I liked. Of course, that was shortly followed by Mr. Bungle, The Dillinger Escape plan and Fantomas. But it was the first.

Because I surround myself with like-minded people, I often hear of new bands from my friends. And Tomahawk (Or Mike Patton) is no exception.

I first heard of Tomahawk from my Bass Player, and Best friend, Michael Schellenberg.

I'm a huge fan of the whole Native feel that you hear in Tomahawk, especially the song "Birdsong".

Just take a listen to some of these awesome Tomahawk songs!

Noticeable Traits:

  • Mike Patton has an insane voice...literally insane...
  • Experiment with lots of different equipment (Like using a Gas Mask with a Microphone inside)
  • Sometimes an Indian/Native feel, especially with the drums
  • Live performance is as good, if not better than the CD (Scroll down and see video for "God Hates A Coward")
  • Did I mention that everyone in the band is already an accomplished musician through other successful bands?

Featured Band:

Gorillaz

Gorillaz is a super classic band, and for a good reason. With some of the best combinations of electronic music, featuring artists from Mos Def, to MF Doom, it's a really incredible band.

Their newest album, "The Fall", was even recording entirely on an iPad! I highly recommend they become an integral part to your music library, and I've been listening to them for the last month straight (Religiously).
