Tomahawk may not be Mike Patton's debut musical act, but it certainly isn't a bad start for anyone unfamiliar with him.
Working with band members from Battles, The Melvins, The Jesus Lizard, and even Trevor Dunn from Mr. Bungle.
This band came around after the days of Faith No More. There's a heavy rock vibe, allowing Patton to exude all of his excruciatingly intense voice into the music.
The song structures are generally fairly simple, especially when you compare it with Mike Patton's other works (Mr. Bungle or Fantomas come to mind). Tracks like "God Hates A Coward" are a great showcase for the dry, dull crispiness that you can come to expect from Tomahawk.
It sure is odd that they use so much indian imagery.
My name is Andrew Muller. I love creative art, music, television shows, movies, video games, and a good story.
If you had to find me somewhere, you would probably find me down at O'neils home cooking eating an organic sweet-potato bun breakfast sandwich with ham.
Among my friends, it's a "Muller Classic Move" to eat Mcdonald's at 2am because it's cheap and open 24/7. The joke here is that I'm an idiot.
I play drums, guitar, piano, and I write & perform music for My Goal Is Telepathy. Take a listen to the latest sound here.
